Bottled at UK 80-proof (the equivalent to US 91.4-proof or 45.7% ABV), the Estate Reserve is a superb sherry-influenced single malt originally released for the travel retail market. This beloved bottling is a collaborative effort between Macallan's master whisky maker and John Ramsay, a part of the distinguished Glenrothes Distillery team - and is a blend of some of the rarest distillate the Macallan Distillery has to offer. Matured in select sherry-seasoned hogshead for an undeclared duration of time, the Macallan 1824 Estate Reserve opens with a nose of dark sherry, citrus, and vanilla over a palate of ginger, cloves, pepper, oak, and dark chocolate.
