Weller 12 Year Old Bourbon

Weller 12 Kentucky Straight Bourbon

12 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 700ml bottle

464 reviews

A sophisticated sipping whiskey and close relative of Old Rip Van Winkle's Lot B, Weller's 12 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a surreptitiously smooth wheated bourbon that pays homage to one of bourbon's founding fathers. Charismatic and captivating, expect initial hints of toasted almond, sweet caramel, and vanilla, which give way to complex oak and leather notes that sing harmoniously on the palate, coming together to complement a medium-length finish with lingering sweet wheat and subtle dryness.

The "Baby Pappy"

Made as a nod to one of bourbon's original aristocrats, W. L. Weller 12 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon is still crafted using Weller's original 1849 wheated bourbon recipe and is a close relative of Old Rip Van Winkle's Lot B (using the same mashbill). Having earned the accolades of Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and scoring 93.5 points in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible, this spirit is one you simply cannot pass over.

Wonderful Wheat

Nose: Sweet and unusual floral notes and coupled with vanilla. | Taste: The taste is very well balanced with sweet fruit notes, strong vanilla. | Finish: Sharp spicy tones, with a cinnamon finish.

"We reviewed this bottle way back in 2013, when it was already gaining acclaim as “baby Pappy,” but we thought it was time for a revisit. All in all, W.L. Weller 12 is a classic, flavorful bourbon, even better now than the last time we tasted it. The very best of the Weller barrels essentially go on to become Van Winkle, but I’d honestly be happy if I could just keep a few of these on the bar."
